Mastung β Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rafiq Mengal has gone missing while traveling from Hub to Mastung, creating serious concern among officials.
The senior officer has been untraceable for more than 24 hours. According to reports, Rafiq Mengal had recently returned to Hub from his native town, Mashkay in Awaran District, where he attended his motherβs funeral.
On Thursday afternoon, he left Hub for Mastung to resume his duties. Officials confirmed that he reached Surab on the National Highway. However, no contact has been made since then, and his mobile phone remains switched off.
Deputy Commissioner Mastung, Behram Saleem, along with other authorities, held an urgent meeting to discuss the matter. A search operation has been launched by law enforcement agencies to locate the missing officer.
Balochistan, the countryβs largest province by land, continues to face serious security challenges. The region has remained a target of foreign-backed militant groups.
Over recent months, attacks on both civilians and security forces have increased. Groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Jaish al-Adl have been linked to several high-profile incidents.
