On Saturday night, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and other cities in Pakistan experienced a 5.8 magnitude earthquake. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad reported that the temblor measured 5.8 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located near the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 196 kilometers in the Hindukush mountain range.
As a result of the tremors, residents rushed out of their homes in panic, but fortunately, there have been no reports of damages or casualties so far. The affected cities also include Bannu, DI Khan, Swat, Diamer, Chilas, Nowshera, Mansehra, Lower Dir, Dir Bala, Mianwali, and Malakand.

In addition to Pakistan, strong tremors were felt in India’s Delhi and its neighboring areas. Reports from NDTV indicate that tremors were felt in several regions of northern India, particularly in some areas of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Punjab.
Earthquakes are not uncommon in Pakistan, as the country lies on the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. This region of South Asia is seismically active due to the Indian plate’s northward movement
