Following a successful security operation against dacoits, Sindh’s Katcha area is witnessing positive changes. A new school building is now under construction, signaling gradual improvement in the regionโs safety.
While criminal activity has not been fully eradicated, authorities report a significant decline in violence. This has brought cautious optimism to local communities who endured years of fear and insecurity.
Team Sar-e-Aam of ARY News recently visited Sindh’s Katcha area to tour the newly established school. The team interacted with students to learn about their ambitions and hopes for the future. Children expressed enthusiasm for education, demonstrating a renewed spirit in the region.
Residents and their families are slowly adjusting to a more stable environment. The school has become a symbol of hope, replacing fear with opportunity. Establishing educational institutions in areas once considered red zones marks a transformative step for the children of Sindh’s Katcha area.
The region lies between the territories of the Teghani and Ogahi tribes. At the peak of dacoit activity, the area was plagued by armed clashes and frequent gunfire, which disrupted law and order. Both education and local economic life suffered severely. Reports indicate that around 60 people lost their lives in violent tribal clashes.
Following partial stabilization, the education department engaged tribal elders from both sides. A mutual agreement was reached to allow children from both tribes to study together peacefully. This collaboration has helped restore social cohesion and support academic activities.
Currently, around 300 students are enrolled in the school. Their eagerness to learn reflects the resilience of the local population. Observers note that small steps like these can transform historically troubled areas into centers of growth and opportunity.
The developments in Sindh’s Katcha area illustrate how security operations, community engagement, and education can together foster long-term peace and prosperity in previously volatile regions.
