PESHAWAR โ The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a strict directive banning exams during the winter holidays. Schools found violating this rule will face legal action.
In an official letter to private institutions, the PSRA stated that holding exams during the winter holidays is against regulations. Schools have been instructed to immediately withdraw any exam schedules planned during this period.
The authority clarified that such practices violate established guidelines. No private school will be allowed to conduct exams during the winter holidays under any circumstances. Failure to comply may result in penalties under the Private Schools Regulatory Authority Act of 2017.
The KP government has announced the official winter holidays schedule for both public and private schools. Schools in the summer zone will be closed from January 1 to 15. Meanwhile, schools in the winter zones will observe a longer break from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
The extended holiday period in winter zones is aimed at ensuring student and staff safety. Authorities cited severe weather conditions, including dense fog and snowfall, particularly in mountainous areas, as the main reason for the break.
The PSRA emphasized that the ban on exams during winter holidays is part of broader efforts to ensure compliance with educational regulations. Parents and students have been advised to report any school attempting to conduct exams during the break.
Education officials said the move also allows students to rest and prepare adequately for upcoming assessments. It ensures that academic activities are aligned with safety and well-being priorities.
The PSRA urged private schools to fully cooperate with the directive. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring compliance and taking strict action against defaulters.
This announcement comes amid increasing concern over student safety during harsh winter conditions. The authority stressed that proper adherence to winter holidays schedules is essential for preventing accidents and ensuring smooth school operations.
