A catastrophic gas cylinder explosion triggered the collapse of a three-story structure on the Grand Trunk Road in Punjab’s Jhelum, killing at least five people and injuring ten more.
Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Samiullah Farooq verified five deaths and said that ten injured individuals had been sent to hospitals for treatment.

Jhelum police claimed on Twitter that police and rescue workers were actively involved in a rescue operation under the supervision of DPO Jhelum Nasir Mehmood Bajwa.
According to reports, heavy gear is being used to clear the building’s debris. In another tweet, the DPO stated, “All available resources are being utilised.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sadness and grief over the collapse of the building in Jhelum and the deaths that resulted.
In a statement, the premier expressed condolences to the grieving families and prayed for the deceased’s eternal peace.
He wished the ten injured people a speedy recovery and urged the necessary authorities to provide them with the best possible care.
A day earlier, a vehicle’s petrol cylinder burst near the Government College of Commerce in Sargodha’s Bhalwal tehsil, killing at least seven people and injuring 14 others.
According to a statement released by Rescue 1122, seven critically injured people were taken to the Bhalwal Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
