In a major crackdown on food fraud, authorities have sealed a fake cold drink manufacturing unit operating on the Lahore–Sheikhupura Road. The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted the raid in Ghareebabad and arrested six individuals involved in the illegal operation.
Acting on the orders of PFA Director General Asim Javed, the food safety team discovered and destroyed 3,600 litres of counterfeit beverages, 15,000 bottle caps, 80 litres of chemical flavoring, and a large quantity of packaging materials. The raid also led to the seizure of filling machines, gas cylinders, a tank, cooler, and other equipment used in the production of fake soft drinks.

On-site tests confirmed the harmful nature of the products, prompting authorities to take swift action to prevent their distribution in Lahore and surrounding areas. “Immediate destruction of the material was necessary to protect public health,” said DG Asim Javed.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over food safety, with officials urging the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious manufacturing units. The crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure safe and hygienic food standards across the province.
