The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially extended the income tax filing deadline for manual filers, offering additional time for taxpayers to submit their returns. The extension aims to facilitate those facing technical and documentation challenges amid the ongoing tax season.
According to the FBRβs notification, the new deadline for manual income tax return filing has been moved to November 30, 2025. This applies specifically to individuals and associations of persons (AOPs) who file their returns manually rather than through the online portal.
The FBR clarified that the deadline for e-filers remains unchanged, encouraging digital submissions for faster processing and improved transparency. Officials emphasized that the extension was granted following multiple requests from taxpayers, tax consultants, and business associations who cited system difficulties and delays in obtaining required documents.
Tax authorities reiterated the importance of timely filing to avoid penalties and ensure compliance. The FBR also urged manual filers to make use of the additional time responsibly and to submit accurate financial information.
In recent years, the FBR has been actively working to digitize Pakistanβs tax ecosystem, making online filing the preferred and more efficient option. However, a significant number of individuals β especially in rural or less digitally connected areas β continue to rely on manual filing.
With the FBR extending the tax filing deadline for manual filers, the move is expected to ease pressure on both taxpayers and tax offices, ensuring a smoother end to the fiscal filing cycle.
