ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has set September 30 as the deadline for several business categories.
A total of 14 categories must complete their registration and tax filing requirements by the deadline. These businesses were previously directed to integrate with the sales tax system.
The FBR will monitor compliance with the requirements. Business owners must complete their registration and submit their income tax returns on time.
The affected sectors include several hospitality and personal care businesses. Hotels, guest houses and marriage halls are among the businesses covered.
Clubs, beauty parlours, slimming centres and massage centres are also included. Beauty clinics must also meet the requirements before the deadline.
Healthcare Businesses Included
Several healthcare-related businesses also fall under the new requirements. These include hair transplant clinics, dental clinics and plastic surgery clinics.
Veterinary hospitals and certain medical practitioners are also covered. Doctors charging more than Rs. 500 are included in the list.
Laboratories and diagnostic centres must also complete the required process. X-ray centres and private hospitals are included as well.
Private consultants and healthcare centres are also required to comply. These businesses must complete their FBR registration and file their returns.
Clubs and Fitness Facilities
Several major clubs and recreational establishments are also covered by the requirements. The list includes Karachi Gymkhana and Royal Palm Country Club.
Chenab Club, Islamabad Club and Lahore Gymkhana are also included. Health clubs, swimming pools and fitness clubs fall under the same requirements.
Multipurpose clubs are also part of the specified business categories. Their operators must complete the required registration process.
Professional Firms and Educational Institutions
The requirements also apply to certain professional service providers. Chartered accountant firms and cost management companies are included.
Schools and colleges must also comply with the tax requirements. The measure specifically covers schools charging monthly fees of Rs. 1,000 or more.
Universities are also required to complete their FBR registration. Training centres have been included in the requirements as well.
These institutions must submit their income tax returns by September 30. The deadline applies to the listed categories covered under the latest instructions.
