The federal government is reportedly considering pushing back the presentation date for the 2025–26 federal budget once again, according to Finance Ministry insiders.
Originally slated for June 10, the budget timeline now faces disruption due to the Eidul Adha holidays on June 7 and 8. To stay on schedule, June 9 — the third day of Eid — would need to be declared a working day. However, officials note this might not be feasible.

June 9 is also scheduled for two major events: the release of the Economic Survey and a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), which involves the chief ministers of all four provinces, as well as leaders from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Conducting both events on the same day is seen as challenging.
Traditionally, a two-day buffer is observed between the NEC meeting and the budget presentation to allow time to finalize the national development programme. Sources indicate that a delay of up to two days is under consideration to maintain this sequence.
While no official decision has been made, Khurram Shahzad, advisor to the finance minister, confirmed that discussions are ongoing. Government officials are now weighing how to accommodate all critical events without violating standard procedures. The possibility of shifting the budget presentation date remains open depending on administrative and logistical constraints.
