The federal govt announces winter holidays for educational institutions under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE). The break will last nine days from December 26, 2025, to January 3, 2026.
According to the notification, all schools and colleges, including Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges and former FG Colleges in urban and rural Islamabad, will observe the winter vacation. Academic activities will resume on January 5, 2026 (Monday).
The federal govt announces that Saturday, January 10, 2026, will be a working day for administrative, teaching, and non-teaching staff. This day will be used to complete priority tasks and administrative work.
The FDE notification has been circulated to all heads of institutions to ensure smooth implementation of the holiday schedule. Officials have been asked to inform staff and students accordingly.
Earlier, the Sindh government announced two public holidays for the Christian community. These holidays include Christmas on December 25 and a partial holiday on December 26. All government, semi-autonomous, and autonomous institutions under Sindh’s administrative control will remain closed, except for employees in essential services.
The Sindh government has also forwarded copies of the notification to relevant federal and provincial departments. These include the Establishment Division, Board of Revenue Sindh, Sindh High Court, Accountant General Sindh, police, administrative secretaries, commissioners, and deputy commissioners for necessary action.
The federal govt announces these measures to give students and staff ample time to rest during the winter season. Authorities emphasize maintaining essential services during the holidays to ensure continuity in critical sectors.
With the announcement, educational institutions will be closed for nine days, allowing students to enjoy the winter break. The federal govt encourages all staff and students to prepare for the smooth resumption of academic activities in January 2026.
