FIA Launches 'Electronic Notice System' to Fight Fraud and Blackmail

The FIA has introduced a new electronic notice system across Pakistan, officially ending all manual and paper-based notices. The move comes after a sharp rise in fake summons, phishing attempts, and blackmail cases involving fraudulent messages impersonating agency officials.

According to an FIA spokesperson, all notices issued under Section 160 will now be sent only through the digital system. Each notice will carry a unique QR code to help citizens verify its authenticity within seconds. The spokesperson warned that any notice without a QR code should be considered fake or suspicious, and recipients must immediately contact the agency for confirmation.

This major step follows a surge in scams where fraudsters used WhatsApp, email, and social media to send fake notices pretending to be from the FIA. These fake messages often claimed that the recipient had violated criminal or cyber laws and demanded money to avoid arrest.

Many victims reported receiving notices on WhatsApp that included accurate personal information, making the scam appear legitimate. Officials explained that these were phishing attempts designed solely to blackmail and create fear.

Authorities noted that fake notices often look convincing. Scammers use false case numbers, forged signatures, and duplicate stamps to mislead citizens. The FIA repeatedly clarified that it never asks for personal, financial, or banking details through calls, texts, or online messages. Any such request is a clear sign of fraud.

The agency also stressed that genuine notices are issued only after proper investigation. Authentic documents include clear case details and follow established legal procedures. Citizens are urged not to respond to threats from unknown numbers and to verify every notice before taking any action.

The FIA believes the new electronic notice system will significantly reduce the circulation of fake documents. Officials say it will also help rebuild public trust and prevent scammers from misusing the agencyโ€™s name to exploit unsuspecting individuals.
