FIA Suspends Officer After Alleged Misconduct During Karachi Raid

KARACHI: The FIA has suspended an officer following allegations of misconduct during a raid in Karachiโ€™s Saddar Sarafa Bazaar. The action was taken after complaints of alleged assault on traders.

The FIA confirmed that Director General Dr. Usman Anwar took immediate notice of the incident. He requested a detailed inquiry report from the concerned authorities.

According to officials, the DG FIA directed that a complete investigation report must be submitted within 48 hours. He stressed that all aspects of the case must be reviewed carefully.

He also stated that the agency follows transparent and lawful procedures. Any violation of rules will face strict action without exception.

The Karachi Zone leadership of the FIA also responded quickly. The Station House Officer of the Anti-Corruption Circle was suspended to ensure an impartial inquiry.

Officials said this step was taken to maintain fairness and institutional transparency. The FIA reiterated that no individual is above the law.

Following the raid, traders staged a protest in Saddar. They closed jewellery shops and blocked nearby roads in response.

Protesters accused FIA personnel of harassment and excessive use of force. They also claimed they were threatened with shop sealing during the operation.

The incident has raised concerns about conduct during enforcement actions. Traders demanded accountability and fair treatment during investigations.

A spokesperson for the FIA said immediate action was taken based on initial findings. The aim is to ensure a transparent and unbiased review of the incident.

The spokesperson added that any misconduct or illegal behavior will not be tolerated. The agency emphasized its commitment to lawful enforcement.
