Security forces killed five terrorists during a joint intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The operation was carried out after agencies traced the presence of a militant group involved in recent attacks on security personnel and civilians.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists opened fire as soon as the forces approached their hideout. A heavy exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of five militants. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the site.
Authorities said the killed terrorists were linked to several acts of terrorism in the province, including targeted attacks and bombings. They added that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant networks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security has been tightened in surrounding areas, and a clearance operation is underway to ensure no other militants are hiding nearby. Officials reiterated that Pakistanโs security forces remain committed to eradicating terrorism and will continue intelligence-based operations wherever threats are detected.
The latest operation adds to the series of actions taken in recent weeks as the government moves to curb rising terrorist activity in the region.
