ISLAMABAD โ The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has issued a NOTAM announcing temporary flight restrictions in the Lahore Flight Information Region on March 16.
Commercial flights will not be allowed to land or take off at Islamabad airport between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Aircraft scheduled to arrive during this period will have to wait in the air. Pilots have been instructed to carry extra fuel.
The restriction comes as regional tensions disrupt jet fuel supplies in Pakistan. The PAA has advised all airlines to operate with minimum fuel requirements. Domestic carriers are also encouraged to secure additional fuel from international sources.
The NOTAM regarding flight operations and jet fuel availability will remain effective until March 31. Airlines are asked to monitor updates closely and plan their operations accordingly.
Meanwhile, flights from Pakistan to Middle Eastern countries remain suspended on Saturday. An additional 25 flights were canceled across the country due to airspace closures.
Reports indicate that 14 flights to and from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar departing from Lahore were canceled. Sialkot Airport saw four flight cancellations, while Multan and Faisalabad combined accounted for seven canceled flights.
Authorities say the suspension follows attacks by the US and Israel on Iran. Several Middle Eastern countries have kept their airspace closed for the fifteenth consecutive day, affecting both international and domestic flight schedules.
Passengers planning to travel through Islamabad airport are advised to check with their airlines before heading to the airport. Officials recommend confirming flight schedules and being prepared for potential delays during the temporary restrictions.
