Train services from Balochistan to other parts of Pakistan were suspended on Saturday due to heavy flooding. Sections of the railway network were severely affected, forcing authorities to halt operations.
The suspension has impacted major routes, including the Jaffar Express to Peshawar and the Bolan Mail linking Balochistan with Karachi. Railway officials stated that the decision was taken as a precaution to ensure passenger safety amid rising floodwaters.
Authorities confirmed that train services may resume on Sunday, depending on weather conditions and track clearance. Passengers have been advised to remain in touch with railway helplines for updates on rescheduling and refunds.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued new warnings of severe flooding in Sindh. The Indus River’s water level is expected to rise to 900,000 cusecs in early September. Officials said floodwaters released from upstream barrages in Punjab and India could submerge several districts in lower Sindh.
Balochistan is also facing potential flooding, with water from the Indus River projected to enter the province by September 2. Districts including Jaffarabad, Rojhan, Usta Muhammad, and Sohbatpur have been identified as high-risk areas.
To manage the emergency, provincial authorities have set up a camp office in Naseerabad. The office will oversee relief operations and monitor the evolving situation closely.
The disruption of train services highlights the widespread impact of monsoon floods on transportation and daily life. Officials assured that restoration work is under way, but safety will remain the top priority before full operations resume.
