Food Delivery Rider Injured in Karachi After Being Struck By Speeding Car

A food delivery rider injured in Karachi after a speeding car crashed into him, police confirmed to ARY News. The accident occurred near Saba Signal on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, DHA Karachi, around 2am.

According to authorities, a car reportedly racing at high speed lost control, overturned several times, and struck the motorcycle. The delivery rider, identified as 32-year-old Farhan, suffered severe head injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police said the car occupants initially called for another vehicle to assist but fled the scene under the pretext of taking the injured man to the hospital. Investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspects.

This incident adds to Karachiโ€™s rising traffic-related accidents. In January 2026 alone, at least 82 people lost their lives in road accidents across the city. Heavy vehicle collisions accounted for 21 deaths, while trailer collisions claimed 10 lives and water tanker accidents caused five fatalities.

Men were the most affected, with 60 deaths reported in various road accidents. Women (nine deaths), children (12 deaths), and one girl were also among the fatalities.

Injuries were widespread, with 725 men, 128 women, 43 children, and 14 girls sustaining injuries in separate incidents. Many required urgent medical treatment at both public and private hospitals.

Other notable traffic accidents included single deaths from dumper and Mazda collisions, while bus-related accidents resulted in four fatalities.

Authorities have urged drivers to follow speed limits and traffic rules to prevent similar incidents. Road safety campaigns are ongoing, but accidents continue to pose serious risks in Karachi.

The recent crash that left the food delivery rider injured highlights the dangers of reckless driving. Police officials reiterated their commitment to tracking the suspects and ensuring justice for victims of traffic accidents.

Residents and commuters are advised to stay vigilant, drive cautiously, and report reckless driving to prevent further injuries. The city continues to face challenges managing road safety despite ongoing awareness campaigns.

This incident serves as a reminder of the hazards faced by delivery riders and other commuters in busy urban areas. The rider injured in DHA Karachi remains under critical care while police pursue the investigation.
