The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has Arrested a former private bank manager over an alleged Rs10 million fraud case.

The suspect was identified as Imran Sajid, a former branch manager at a private bank in Okara.

According to the FIA, Sajid had previously been declared a proclaimed offender. His name was also placed on the Passport Control List (PCL).

The Arrested suspect was taken into custody by the FIA’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Wing.

The operation was conducted in Faisalabad under the supervision of Faisalabad Zone Director Saqib Sultan. Deputy Director Tariq Mahmood also supervised the operation.

An FIA team led by Sub-Inspector Ajmal Hussain carried out the arrest.

The agency said a case was registered against Sajid following a complaint by Rehmat Ali. The complainant is a resident of Okara.

The case was filed after the completion of an inquiry into the allegations. It includes provisions under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Pakistan Penal Code sections related to corruption were also included. These reportedly cover criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Rs10m Investment Allegedly Misappropriated

According to the FIA’s initial investigation, Sajid allegedly misused his position as a bank manager.

The agency alleged that he worked with an accomplice in the alleged scheme. They reportedly convinced the complainant to invest Rs10 million.

The suspects allegedly promised the complainant high returns on the investment. However, the FIA said the money was not deposited into the bank.

Instead, the agency alleged that the amount was misappropriated by the suspects.

The complainant later demanded the return of his money. According to the FIA, Rs2.5 million was returned in cash.

The suspects also reportedly issued a cheque for another Rs2.5 million. However, the cheque was later dishonoured.

The remaining Rs5 million is still outstanding, according to the investigation. The FIA said this amount is allegedly part of the reported fraud.

The Arrested former manager is now facing further investigation by the agency. Officials are also examining the alleged involvement of other individuals.

The FIA said the investigation will determine the roles of people allegedly connected to the case. Further legal action will follow if their involvement is established.

The agency stressed that action would be taken according to the law. The investigation is expected to continue as officials examine the financial transactions.

The case highlights allegations involving a former bank official and a private investment arrangement. The FIA will determine the facts through its ongoing investigation.

The suspect’s arrest marks the latest development in the case. Authorities are now working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged Rs10 million transaction.
