The federal government has announced the distribution of Chromebooks to talented students in public schools and colleges across Pakistan. This move is part of the Digital Pakistan Program, which aims to integrate technology into the education system.
Reports indicate that the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has requested updated data of exceptional students from all educational boards. Earlier, on January 19, boards were asked to provide this information, but incomplete submissions led to a follow-up letter. The IBCC has now directed all boards to comply promptly.
Officials said the initiative will accelerate the Digital Pakistan Program. By providing students with Chromebooks and other modern devices, the government hopes to promote digital learning and improve overall educational standards nationwide.
Education experts have welcomed the initiative, stating that access to Chromebooks will enhance studentsโ learning experiences. They said digital tools help students engage with interactive content, complete assignments efficiently, and develop skills required for the modern workforce.
In Punjab, the Chief Minister Laptop Program 2026 has launched Phase-II, opening its portal for applications from students at both public and private universities. For the first time, students from private institutions are eligible to participate, making the program more inclusive.
The technology-driven initiative aims to empower the youth of Punjab by providing essential digital tools. Officials believe that access to devices like Chromebooks will help bridge the digital divide and equip students with skills necessary for the 21st century.
Authorities emphasized that the program is not limited to laptops alone. Complementary training and workshops will be provided to ensure that students use the devices effectively for educational purposes. The government hopes that these measures will foster innovation, critical thinking, and digital literacy among the next generation.
