Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairpersons, Najam Sethi and Zaka Ashraf, have both commended the stunning transformation of Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium, praising the rapid pace of its development. The renovation, completed in record time, has left a lasting impression on both leaders, who highlighted the exceptional efforts behind the project.
Najam Sethi, reflecting on the changes, remarked, “The evolution of Gaddafi Stadium in just a year is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved. The upgrades have not only enhanced the stadium’s facilities but also its significance as a world-class venue.” His views were echoed by Zaka Ashraf, who emphasized the project’s efficiency, stating, “This transformation serves as an example of how quickly sports infrastructure can be revitalized.”

On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially inaugurated the revamped Gaddafi Stadium in a vibrant ceremony, just days before the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The event, featuring performances by renowned artists such as Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, was capped off with a dazzling fireworks display, marking a new chapter in the stadium’s 65-year history.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi lauded the efforts of nearly 2,500 workers who, along with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the Pakistan Army, completed the renovation in a mere 117 days. He stated that the upgrades, including brighter LED lights, new scoreboards, and additional seating, have set the stage for a memorable Champions Trophy.
Gaddafi Stadium will now kick off its post-renovation journey with the opening match of the tri-nation ODI series, as New Zealand takes on Pakistan in an exciting showdown.
