The government of Pakistan has announced that all citizens turning 18 can now receive your first CNIC free of charge. This facilitation measure aims to make essential services like banking, voting, and passport issuance more accessible.
NADRA confirmed that citizens can apply for your first CNIC through the PakID mobile app. Applicants can use either a computerised birth certificate or a B-Form linked to a parentโs PakID account. However, biometric enrolment and a mandatory interview still require visiting a NADRA office.
For applications based on a B-Form (CRC), one parent acts as the applicant while the other serves as the attester. If a parent is unavailable, the application can still be processed at a NADRA center.
According to NADRAโs official Facebook page, citizens applying for your first CNIC will receive the card without a chip within 15 days at no cost. The move is part of the governmentโs efforts to ensure all eligible citizens are registered and can exercise their right to vote.
NADRA encouraged all eligible citizens who have reached 18 years and those who do not yet have an ID card to apply immediately. Under Pakistani law, individuals are eligible to vote and access government services once they receive their CNIC.
This initiative reflects the governmentโs focus on digitization and citizen facilitation. By allowing online applications and fast processing, NADRA hopes to make obtaining your first CNIC more convenient and efficient.
Officials said the free service will reduce barriers for young citizens and help ensure that every eligible Pakistani can participate in democratic processes and other civil services without delay.
