Tensions have sharply increased along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after recent clashes. Pakistani security forces launched a large-scale response following what officials described as unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces.
The operation, named Ghazab lil-Haq, targeted key Taliban positions across multiple sectors. Security sources said air strikes hit important military installations in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. Several headquarters and supply bases were reportedly destroyed.
According to state media, two brigade headquarters in Kabul were demolished. In Kandahar, one corps headquarters and one brigade headquarters were struck. An ammunition depot and a logistics base were also destroyed there. Another corps headquarters was targeted in Paktia.
Officials confirmed that the ongoing Ghazab lil-Haq operation has resulted in heavy losses. So far, 133 Taliban fighters have been killed. More than 200 others have been injured. Pakistani forces also destroyed 27 Taliban posts and captured nine more during the fighting.
Military sources said over 36 tanks, artillery guns, and armored vehicles were destroyed. Precision strikes were carried out in several border sectors. In the Chitral sector, a key Taliban post was demolished. Multiple bases were also targeted, forcing militants to retreat.
Further clashes were reported in the Naogai sector of Bajaur, the Tira sector of Khyber, the Memonand district, and the Arandu sector. In Bajaur, two Taliban outposts were completely destroyed. Officials described the response as swift and effective.
The Ministry of Information stated that Afghan Taliban actions along the border triggered the operation. It said militants misjudged Pakistan’s preparedness. The ministry added that Ghazab lil-Haq delivered a strong message about defending national sovereignty.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said Pakistan remains committed to peace. However, he warned that any aggression would face a firm response. He stressed that the country would not allow its peace to be undermined.
Security officials said forces remain on high alert. Border monitoring has been increased. Authorities have reaffirmed that Pakistan will respond immediately to any further violations.
The situation remains tense, but officials say the country’s territorial integrity will be protected at all costs.
