Narowal – A local fisherman in Narowal has caught a giant fish weighing 102 kilograms from the River Ravi. The catch has sparked excitement among residents and traders.
Muhammad Arif, the fisherman, told media outlets he will only sell the fish if it fetches Rs200,000. He added, “Then I will go home.”
The River Ravi, which usually has low water flow during winter, is experiencing unusually high levels this season. This has led to the appearance of rare and oversized fish.
This is not Arif’s first extraordinary catch. Just a day earlier, he caught a 65-kilogram fish from the same river stretch. Traders initially offered Rs90,000, but Arif insisted on Rs100,000, later securing the amount.
Local fishermen explained that these large fish are moving into accessible areas due to altered water flows after the August floods in Punjab. Floodwater has brought fish from deeper or upstream zones into reach.
Arif described his latest catch as a high-quality royal breed with distinctive features, making it highly valuable in the market. Residents said such massive fish are attracting wide interest among buyers.
Large fish catches in the River Ravi are not new. In October 2025, a 92-kilogram fish was caught near Chandyali village, leaving locals amazed at its size.
Meanwhile, authorities plan to establish a model fish market in Lahore. The Fisheries Department approved the project, which will include processing plants, warehouses, and retail shops equipped with modern technology. The Lahore Development Authority will provide land for the market.
