The political atmosphere in Gilgit-Baltistan has intensified as the Election campaign enters its final stage. With only two days remaining before polling, candidates and political parties are making their last efforts to reach voters across the region.
According to the Election Commission, all Election campaigning will officially end at 12 midnight tonight. After the deadline, rallies, processions, corner meetings, and all other campaign activities will be prohibited.
Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against any candidate or political party found violating the campaign ban.
Over the past several weeks, political activity has remained high throughout Gilgit-Baltistan. Official figures show that 614 political activities have taken place since May 1, 2026. These included public meetings, political rallies, office inaugurations, processions, and other campaign events.
Among these activities were 217 public meetings and inauguration ceremonies, 243 office inaugurations, 92 political processions, and 62 large public gatherings. The Election campaign has remained active in major districts, including Gilgit, Skardu, Diamer, Ghizer, Hunza, and Ganche.
Election officials have stated that the overall law and order situation remains satisfactory and under control. Security agencies continue to monitor developments as polling day approaches.
In Gilgit district, there are 158,714 registered voters spread across four constituencies. GBA-15 has 44,526 voters, while GBA-16 has 46,282 voters. GBA-17 includes 41,045 voters, and GBA-18 has 26,861 registered voters.
Diamer district remains the largest voting district in the region. With a population of over 337,000, political activity there has reached its peak. Constituency Tangir 4 has become a major focus of campaign efforts as candidates continue to present their plans and promises to voters.
A total of 24 political parties are participating in the Election process across Gilgit-Baltistan. Political workers remain active in party offices, while streets and markets are decorated with party banners, flags, and campaign material.
In Skardu, campaign activities have also intensified, especially in GB-10 Skardu 4, where a close contest is expected. Political parties are using the final hours of campaigning to demonstrate their support before the silence period begins.
Similar scenes are being witnessed in Ghizer, Hunza, and Ganche. Candidates are holding final gatherings and power shows before the campaign officially concludes. In Ganche, more than 97,000 voters are expected to cast their votes across three constituencies.
Authorities have strengthened security arrangements throughout the region. Several polling stations have been categorized as sensitive and most sensitive to ensure peaceful voting.
