Govt Waives August Power Bills for 2.5M Flood-Hit Households

The government has announced a major relief measure for citizens affected by recent floods, as the Govt Waives August Power Bills for 2.5M Flood-Hit Households across Pakistan. The decision aims to support millions of families struggling with financial hardships caused by widespread flooding and infrastructure damage.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the initiative covers households in severely affected areas of Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab. Under this plan, residents will not be required to pay their August electricity bills, providing much-needed relief during recovery efforts.

Officials said the Govt Waives August Power Bills for 2.5M Flood-Hit Households to ease the economic burden on low-income families who lost homes, crops, and livelihoods due to heavy rains and flash floods. Power distribution companies have been instructed to immediately implement the waiver and ensure no disconnections occur in the affected regions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the initiative, calling it an act of compassion and solidarity with flood victims. He said the government is committed to helping people rebuild their lives and restore essential services. β€œOur priority is to stand with those who have lost everything. This waiver is a small step toward their recovery,” the Prime Minister said.

The government has also directed authorities to monitor power supply stability in disaster-hit zones and ensure continuous electricity restoration efforts. In addition, compensation packages and housing assistance are being rolled out for the most affected families.

Economists have welcomed the move, describing it as a necessary short-term measure to ease inflationary pressures on vulnerable citizens. However, they urged the government to introduce long-term solutions for disaster management and climate resilience.

By approving this relief plan, the Govt Waives August Power Bills for 2.5M Flood-Hit Households, reaffirming its commitment to social welfare and disaster recovery.
