Pakistan’s preparations for Hajj 2027 are moving ahead rapidly, with more than 100,000 people completing their online registration within the first five days of the government’s registration campaign.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a total of 107,587 applicants successfully registered for Hajj 2027 from their homes. The strong response reflects the growing interest among Pakistanis in performing next year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
The registration campaign marks the first phase of preparations for Hajj 2027. The ministry said the online registration process continued even during the Muharram holidays and will remain open for several more days.
Officials said 85,000 applicants selected the government Hajj scheme, while around 22,000 opted for the private Hajj scheme.
The ministry added that the cost of the pilgrimage and other operational details will be announced during the second phase of the registration process.
Punjab recorded the highest number of registrations. Around 51,000 applicants completed the process from the province.
Sindh followed with approximately 33,000 registrations. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded around 15,000 applicants, while nearly 2,000 people registered from Balochistan.
Islamabad contributed around 5,500 registrations. Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded about 600 applicants, while two registrations were received from Gilgit-Baltistan.
The ministry also shared demographic details of the applicants. Around 63,000 registered pilgrims are men, while nearly 44,000 are women.
Most applicants fall within the 25 to 50-year age group, showing strong participation from working-age Pakistanis planning for the upcoming pilgrimage.
Applicants were also asked to choose between different travel packages during registration. According to the ministry, approximately 56,000 people selected the long Hajj package, while nearly 51,000 opted for the short package.
Pakistan successfully concluded this year’s Hajj operation last month, during which nearly 179,000 Pakistani pilgrims performed the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Officials say lessons learned from previous operations are being used to improve arrangements for next year.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs also confirmed that the entire Hajj operation will be managed through a modern paperless digital system developed by Pakistan’s National Information Technology Board (NITB).
The digital platform is designed to simplify registration, documentation, and other administrative procedures while improving transparency and efficiency throughout the pilgrimage process.
