Lahoreโs Allama Iqbal International Airport faced severe disruptions on Thursday due to heavy fog. The dense weather conditions affected both international and domestic flights, causing significant delays and cancellations.
Passengers experienced long waiting hours as airlines struggled to adjust their schedules. AirSialโs flight PF 717 from Jeddah was completely canceled. Etihad Airwaysโ flight EY 248 from Abu Dhabi to Lahore faced a 13-hour delay. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also reported major delays. Flight PK 797 from Lahore to Toronto was postponed by nine hours, while PK 280 from Doha to Lahore was delayed by seven hours.
Other international routes were impacted as well. PIAโs flight PK 159 from Lahore to Baku was delayed for 8.5 hours, and AirBlueโs PA 431 from Abu Dhabi faced an eight-hour hold. Even flights from Karachi saw major disruptions. PIAโs PK 302 arrived five hours late, and AirBlueโs PA 402 faced a 10-hour delay.
Airport authorities confirmed that the heavy fog caused low visibility, making takeoffs and landings unsafe. Staff worked to assist passengers and provide updates on flight statuses. Officials stressed that normal operations will resume only after the fog lifts.
Travelers were advised to check their flight schedules before heading to the airport. Many expressed frustration over the long delays and uncertainty caused by the unexpected weather conditions. The airport management assured passengers that they were being informed continuously and that safety remained the top priority.
This incident highlights how heavy fog can severely disrupt air travel, affecting thousands of passengers. Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions closely and are coordinating with airlines to minimize inconvenience.
