At least seven people lost their lives and 46 others were injured in various rain-related incidents across Punjab as heavy monsoon showers battered the province over the past 24 hours, officials confirmed. Rescue 1122 and disaster management authorities responded to dozens of emergencies triggered by roof collapses, lightning strikes, and road accidents.
Among the fatalities, two deaths each were reported from Jhelum and Muzaffargarh, while one death was confirmed in each of Okara, Bahawalnagar, and Khanewal. Okara district saw the highest number of emergencies, with eight incidents reported. Other districts affected include Multan, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Chiniot.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) noted that the rainfall was part of an early monsoon spell predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) for June 25 to July 1. Faisalabad recorded the heaviest downpour, with 98mm in GMA Town and 91mm in Madina Town. Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and several other districts also received significant rainfall.
Multiple tragic incidents occurred, including the death of a five-year-old girl in Okara due to a roof collapse, two deaths in Jhelum after a rickshaw fell into a storm drain, and fatalities from lightning and wall collapses in other districts. In addition, dozens were injured in similar accidents across the region, while road traffic was disrupted on national highways and motorways.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued impact-based alerts for further heavy rainfall, windstorms, and potential flooding in several Punjab districts and adjoining areas from June 26 to 28. Citizens have been urged to remain cautious and follow safety advisories during the ongoing monsoon spell.
