Heavy rains are expected in Lahore and most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The ongoing rainfall across various areas has already provided much-needed relief, bringing cooler temperatures and a more pleasant atmosphere.
The PDMA spokesperson noted that a low-level flood was recorded at Marala on the Chenab River. Similarly, low-level flooding is being observed at multiple locations along the Indus River, including Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma, and Taunsa.
However, water levels in the Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers remain normal, with no immediate threats of major flooding in these regions.
The PDMA further assured the public that the water levels in streams and tributaries connected to major rivers are stable and within normal limits.
Currently, the Tarbela Dam is 88 percent full, while the Mangla Dam has reached 58 percent of its capacity. This suggests that while there is a significant amount of water stored, there is no imminent danger of dam overflow.
In the past 24 hours, rainfall has been recorded in several areas, including Layyah, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Narowal, Bhakkar, Kasur, and Sialkot.
These regions have experienced a drop in temperatures, which has contributed to more comfortable weather conditions for residents.
The recent heavy rains have been beneficial, offering a temporary break from the heat. As the rain continues to fall across the region, authorities are closely monitoring the situation, particularly in flood-prone areas.
The PDMA has urged citizens to remain cautious and stay updated on the weather conditions as the heavy rains are expected to persist in the coming days.
