The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is set to launch a fully automated degree attestation system using blockchain technology within six months. The new system will make verification faster, secure, and fully digital, removing the need for graduates to visit HEC offices or submit physical documents.
Under the initiative, degrees from 25 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with ERP systems will be automatically added to the blockchain upon graduation. Other institutions can submit documents online for verification. Once on the blockchain, degrees can be instantly authenticated by government departments, embassies, and private organizations, ensuring tamper-proof access and improved transparency across the attestation process.
HEC officials said the blockchain-based system will significantly reduce processing times and enhance security. Graduates will no longer face delays or bureaucratic hurdles, as the entire process is digital and traceable. This step aligns with the governmentโs broader vision of digitizing services and improving public access to official records.

HEC added that the system is designed to integrate with existing ERP platforms in universities, simplifying data entry and validation.
Experts believe the initiative will improve transparency and prevent fraudulent degree claims. Institutions not equipped with ERP systems can still participate by submitting scanned documents online. Once degrees are added to the blockchain, they can be verified instantly, minimizing administrative delays and ensuring reliable, tamper-proof records.
