HEC Launches Global Scholars Network to Connect Overseas Experts with Pakistani Universities

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has introduced a new digital platform called the Global Scholars Network (GSN). The initiative aims to connect overseas Pakistani academics, researchers, and professionals with universities across the country.

With this move, HEC Launches a centralized system to improve academic collaboration between global experts and Pakistanโ€™s higher education sector.

The platform was developed through the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE). It is designed to create stronger links between Pakistani universities and international scholars.

According to HEC, the Global Scholars Network will allow overseas experts to contribute voluntarily in several areas. These include PhD supervision, joint research projects, guest lectures, workshops, faculty training, curriculum development, innovation projects, and industry-academia partnerships.

Through the platform, users can create professional profiles with details about qualifications, research interests, publications, work experience, and areas of expertise.

After verification, these profiles will become available to universities across Pakistan. This will help institutions find suitable experts for academic partnerships.

Officials said HEC Launches this system to replace manual and scattered processes with one organized digital platform. The new system is expected to improve transparency and efficiency.

Universities will be able to search for experts by discipline, specialization, country, and experience. They can also send collaboration requests, manage projects, and track outcomes through the system.

HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said the initiative is an important step for the internationalization of Pakistanโ€™s higher education sector. He said it would help local universities gain global knowledge and improve research quality.

NAHE Managing Director Dr. Noor Amna Malik said the platform was built with security, scalability, and transparency in mind. She added that it will also provide dashboards and analytics for monitoring engagement and measuring impact.

The HEC said these insights will support better policy decisions in the education sector.

The commission also acknowledged the technical support of the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in developing the platform. It praised the efforts of Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Dr. Syed Najeeb Ahmad (Retd) and the IST development team.
