The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has announced a planned power shutdown in several areas on March 15, 2026. The outage will help crews carry out important maintenance work on the electricity network.
According to a HESCO spokesperson, the power shutdown will last for six hours. Electricity supply will remain suspended from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. The shutdown will affect 14 feeders operating on 11kV power lines.
These feeders are connected to three grid stations that supply electricity to nearby communities. The scheduled shutdown will allow technical teams to safely perform maintenance and upgrades on the system.
Officials said the maintenance work includes the erection of new utility poles. Teams will also install high-transmission wires and conduct sagging work on existing lines. Sagging is an important process that ensures proper tension and alignment of power cables.
The affected feeders fall under three main grid stations. These include Latifabad, TM Khan Road, and NTPS grid stations. Areas connected to these stations may experience temporary electricity disruption during the maintenance period.
HESCO said the planned shutdown is necessary to improve the reliability of the electricity network. Regular maintenance helps prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensures stable power supply in the future.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to plan their activities accordingly. Businesses and households may experience inconvenience during the outage. However, officials say the work is essential for long-term service improvement.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has also introduced a new operational measure to control rising costs. The company has adopted a four-day office work policy to reduce expenses.
According to officials, the decision was taken due to increasing fuel prices and higher operational costs. By reducing office working days, the company aims to cut fuel consumption and administrative expenses.
Energy sector officials say such steps reflect the financial pressures faced by power distribution companies. Rising energy costs and infrastructure maintenance continue to challenge electricity providers across the country.
Authorities have urged consumers to cooperate during planned maintenance activities. Scheduled shutdowns, they say, are part of efforts to strengthen the power distribution system and improve service reliability.
