A new acid burn treatment centre has become operational at Holy Family Hospital to provide immediate care to acid attack victims.
The facility has been established under an initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Officials said similar treatment centres have also been established in other cities across Punjab.
The facilities aim to provide free and timely medical treatment to people suffering from acid burn injuries. The initiative particularly focuses on women and children affected by acid attacks.
35-Bed Acid Burn Center Becomes Operational
Officials said a 35-bed acid burn centre has been established at Holy Family Hospital. The facility offers free treatment to patients requiring specialised care after acid attacks.
Necessary medical services have been made available at the centre to begin treatment without unnecessary delays. Patients arriving with acid burns are first assessed in the hospital’s emergency department.
They are then transferred to the attached treatment unit for specialised medical care. Patients receive immediate pain relief before regular treatment begins.
The facility is designed to provide organised and timely care during the critical period following an acid burn injury.
Treatment Available for Women Children and Men
Medical Superintendent Dr Ijaz Butt said specialised centres have been established in eight Punjab cities. He said the initiative is being implemented under the Punjab Social Protection Department.
According to Dr Butt, the centres provide immediate medical services to women, children and men affected by acid burns. Treatment is aimed at supporting patients through their injuries and helping them recover.
The government is also focusing on legal action against people involved in acid attacks. Officials said medical support and legal measures are both important parts of the wider response to such incidents.
Free Treatment for Acid Burn Victims
The new facility at Holy Family Hospital is expected to strengthen specialised burn treatment services in the region. Acid burns can require urgent and specialised medical attention.
