HYDERABAD โ Police in Hyderabad have foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal arms during a late-night operation on the National Highway. The action was taken between Saturday and Sunday midnight.
Officials said CIA and Naseem Nagar police carried out the joint operation. They intercepted a suspicious truck and a car during routine checking. The vehicles were moving from Karachi towards Tando Allahyar.
During the search, police recovered a large consignment of illegal weapons. The seized arms included sophisticated munitions worth millions of rupees. Authorities said the recovery was a major success.
The spokesperson confirmed that the operation in Hyderabad was based on intelligence information. Police had been monitoring suspected movements of illegal arms networks in the region.
Five suspects were arrested on the spot during the raid. They were taken into custody for further investigation. Officials said more arrests are expected as the network is being traced.
Police stated that the smuggling attempt was well-planned. However, timely action by Hyderabad law enforcement teams stopped the delivery before it reached its destination.
