Karachi residents have welcomed relief as parking abolished operations have cleared illegal charged parking in the busy Saddar area. The move aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.
Assistant Commissioner General Hazim Bhangwar led the crackdown in key areas, including Saddar Mobile Market, Cooperative Market, Abdullah Haroon Road, and outside Zainab Market. Officials targeted unauthorised parking operations that charged drivers without legal permission.
During the operation, several motorcycles were seized, and teams from the Anti-Encroachment Police and Deputy Director of Anti-Encroachment assisted in enforcing the law. Sources said over the past four days, 24 individuals running illegal parking schemes were arrested, and FIRs were registered against them.
In addition to parking enforcement, the administration also conducted anti-encroachment actions. More than 300 shops and hotels involved in illegal occupation were sealed, and cases were filed against 12 owners. When authorities arrived, mafia members running these operations reportedly shut their businesses and fled the area.
The local administration emphasized that this step ensures parking abolished in all major commercial streets, providing residents and visitors safer and more organized access. Authorities warned that anyone attempting to restart illegal parking will face strict legal action.
Residents expressed relief over the operation, saying it will improve mobility and reduce chaos in the densely populated commercial areas. Traders also appreciated the administration’s efforts, highlighting that fair and legal parking will benefit both customers and shop owners.
The operation marks a significant milestone in Karachi’s ongoing effort to regulate illegal businesses and encroachments. Authorities confirmed that follow-up checks will ensure that parking abolished remains enforced, keeping streets clear and maintaining public order.
Karachi’s administration stated that such operations will continue across other congested areas to protect citizens’ rights and ensure compliance with city regulations.
