An anti-terrorism court strongly reprimanded police officials during bail proceedings involving Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha.

The court expressed concern after police failed to produce the required case record. Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain conducted the hearing on their bail applications.

The judge warned senior police officials that they could face six months in jail over non-compliance.

Investigating Officer Fails to Appear

During the hearing, the investigating officer did not appear before the court.

The judge expressed anger over his absence and summoned the DSP in person.

Officials informed the court that the investigating officer was outside the city. However, the judge questioned the explanation and demanded further clarification from police officials.

He also summoned the security in-charge and ordered that handcuffs be brought into the courtroom. The judge repeatedly asked the DSP to provide the missing case record.

The DSP initially said his information showed that the investigating officer was outside the city.

The court made clear that verbal explanations would not be sufficient.

DSP and SP Face Warning From Court

The judge warned that both the DSP and SP could face six months in jail. He also strongly criticised the police official’s conduct during the proceedings.

The DSP later informed the court that the investigating officer had travelled to Gilgit-Baltistan. He then presented a printed copy of a WhatsApp communication as supporting information.

However, the judge declined to accept the printed WhatsApp copy.

The court directed the DSP to provide the original document instead.

DSP Ordered to Remain in Court

The judge then ordered the DSP to remain in the dock.

The security in-charge was instructed not to allow him to leave until the court made a decision.

Security personnel at the court entrance were also directed to ensure compliance with the order. The proceedings primarily focused on the missing record and the investigating officer’s absence.

The bail applications of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha remained at the centre of the hearing.

The court repeatedly stressed the importance of producing the required official record. The case highlights the procedural requirements police must follow during judicial proceedings.

The hearing also demonstrated the court’s concern over delays caused by missing documentation.
