Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has rejected the statement issued by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) regarding negotiations with the Taliban. Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Khan’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry clarified that the strategy for talks with the Taliban was devised by former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, not the current military leadership.
Chaudhry also emphasized that Khan maintains his position that the cases against him and PTI leaders are politically motivated, lacking substance, and intended to target them politically rather than achieve justice. Khan has called for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incidents and November 26 protests.

On the Taliban negotiations, Chaudhry reiterated Khan’s stance that Afghanistan’s issues could only be resolved through dialogue, rejecting the ISPR’s position. Khan also criticized the approach of combining diplomatic efforts with aerial bombardments, urging for a more consistent and transparent policy.
As for ongoing trials, Khan condemned military court sentences, arguing they were controversial and lacked transparency. He also called for the upholding of the constitution and protection of human rights. PTI plans to participate in talks on January 2, focusing on electoral mandates and constitutional reforms.
