Imran Vows No Compromise: 'Will Die Instead of Striking Deal'

In the aftermath of the verdict in the ‘illegal’ marriage case, where Imran Khan and his wife were sentenced to seven years in jail, Imran Khan insisted that he would rather die than strike a deal with the ‘powerful stakeholders.’

The former premier addressed reporters, stating that the Iddat case was an attempt to humiliate him and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Imran asserted that no one had been convicted in a case related to Iddat in the country’s history.

Imran Khan spoke about the numerous cases registered against him, claiming that around 200 cases had been filed against him and that he had been sentenced to 14 years in jail in a Toshakhana case, which he stated was a first in the country. He also mentioned the drone attacks in the country, criticizing the lack of outcry against them.

PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, speaking outside Adiala Jail, announced that the party would challenge the ‘illegal’ marriage case verdict in the high court. He claimed that the verdict was an attempt to subject Imran to character assassination and termed the case “shameless and baseless.” Gohar asserted that the decision was politically motivated and hoped for justice from the high court.

Bushra Bibi, addressing reporters, characterized the situation as a war of “honour” and “disgrace,” stating that the decision had to be made by the people. She maintained that the matter of Iddat was clear in the Holy Quran and referred to the verdict as that of Satan.
