inDrive Sees Strong Growth Potential in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has significant room for growth in its digital mobility and delivery market.

Only 5% of people in Pakistan currently use ride-hailing services. The global average stands at around 20%.

The figures show that Pakistan remains an emerging market for digital transport platforms. The sector could see greater adoption in the coming years.

Speaking during a panel discussion, inDrive Regional Director for the Middle East Wael Ibrahim highlighted this potential.

He said Pakistan offers major opportunities for business expansion. He also announced plans for further investment in the country.

inDrive currently operates in 30 cities across Pakistan. Other platforms, including Yango and Bykea, have a smaller presence.

Ibrahim said ride-hailing penetration remains low across Pakistan. He compared the local rate of 5% with the global rate of around 20%.

This gap makes Pakistan an attractive market for digital mobility companies. However, several challenges continue to affect wider adoption.

Low digital literacy remains one of the key barriers in smaller cities and towns. Limited internet access also affects the use of digital services.

Cultural factors may also influence people’s willingness to use ride-hailing platforms. These challenges could slow the expansion of digital mobility services.

The food delivery sector also has significant room for growth. Digital platforms currently account for less than 1% of food sales in Pakistan.

Foodpanda Director Shariq Mustafa shared the figures during the discussion. He said digital platforms have a limited share of the overall food market.

Despite the low market share, digital platforms are creating economic opportunities. Mustafa said these services are significantly affecting the livelihoods of vulnerable families.

The growing use of smartphones and online services could support further expansion. Improved internet access may also encourage more people to use digital platforms.

For inDrive, the low ride-hailing penetration presents an opportunity to expand its customer base. Its presence in 30 cities provides an existing network for future growth.

The companyโ€™s planned investment could further strengthen its operations in Pakistan. Increased competition may also expand choices for consumers.

Pakistan’s digital mobility market remains relatively underdeveloped compared with global markets. However, the figures suggest considerable potential for future growth.
