Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has left for China to co-chair the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue. The meeting is scheduled in Beijing on January 4, 2026, the Foreign Office said.
The visit was made at the invitation of Wang Yi, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and China’s Foreign Minister. The Strategic Dialogue is the highest-level consultative platform between Pakistan and China. It allows both countries to review bilateral cooperation and discuss regional and international developments.
During the dialogue, Ishaq Dar and his Chinese counterpart will announce initiatives and events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. These commemorations in 2026 highlight the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
The visit also reflects the ongoing high-level exchanges aimed at strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Both nations reaffirm their commitment to regional peace, stability, and sustainable development, officials said.
Ahead of the dialogue, Ishaq Dar met with China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, on Monday afternoon. They discussed issues of mutual interest and ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Jiang conveyed season’s greetings and New Year wishes from Wang Yi to Ishaq Dar. In return, the Deputy Prime Minister appreciated China’s continued support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national development.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for China on core issues, including adherence to the One-China Principle. The discussions highlighted the shared determination of both countries to expand strategic cooperation and maintain strong diplomatic ties.
Officials said the Strategic Dialogue will provide a structured mechanism to discuss economic collaboration, regional security, and global challenges. Both sides aim to reinforce mutual trust and explore new avenues for partnership in trade, infrastructure, and technology.
The 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue comes at a time of growing collaboration and signals continued commitment to long-term friendship between the two countries.
