The Pakistan Airports Authority has introduced a major facility to improve passenger services at Islamabad International Airport. The new service is a currency exchange counter located in the international arrivals lounge.
Officials say the major facility will help passengers arriving from abroad exchange foreign currency immediately after landing. This allows travelers to obtain local currency without leaving the airport.
The currency exchange counter was formally inaugurated by Rabia Salma. The ceremony was attended by the airport manager and members of the commercial team.
According to airport officials, the new counter aims to make travel easier for international passengers. Many travelers previously had to leave the airport to find currency exchange services. The new major facility removes that inconvenience.
Passengers arriving in Islamabad can now quickly convert their foreign currency into Pakistani rupees. Authorities believe the service will save time and improve the overall airport experience.
Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts to upgrade services at Islamabad International Airport. The airport has been working to improve passenger convenience and modernize facilities.
Recently, the airport received a significant recognition from Skytrax. Islamabad International Airport was awarded a three-star rating after a detailed evaluation of passenger services and management standards.
With this recognition, Islamabad became the first airport in Pakistan to achieve a three-star rating from Skytrax. The ranking system reviews various aspects such as passenger amenities, cleanliness, service quality, and airport management.
In the same ranking, Dubai International Airport also holds a three-star rating. Meanwhile, airports in Lahore Airport and Jinnah International Airport continue to hold two-star ratings.
Officials say the new major facility reflects Islamabad Airportโs ongoing efforts to enhance passenger services. They also noted that more improvements may be introduced in the future.
The airport management believes that better facilities will strengthen Pakistanโs aviation sector and improve the travel experience for international visitors.
