Islamabad High Court Bans All Video Recording Inside Court Premises

Islamabad High Court Bans All Video Recording Inside Court Premises

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a new circular prohibiting all forms of video recording within its premises. The directive applies to journalists, lawyers, and members of the public.

The circular states that no one will be allowed to record videos anywhere in the court building. This ban covers courtrooms, corridors, waiting areas, and offices inside the Islamabad High Court. Both professional cameras and mobile phone cameras are included in the restriction.

Under the new rules, mobile phones must be kept on silent mode at all times inside the court. Any attempt to live stream or record proceedings will be treated as a violation of the order. The use of cameras for live coverage has also been fully prohibited, further limiting media activity within the court.

Court security staff have been authorized to enforce the ban strictly. They can seize recording devices and remove individuals who violate the rules from the premises immediately. The circular emphasizes that both official and personal video recording will no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.

Legal experts say the move aims to maintain decorum and confidentiality in court proceedings. They note that this step ensures sensitive information is protected and prevents potential misuse of video content.

The Islamabad High Courtโ€™s directive is part of broader efforts to regulate media activity and maintain order inside judicial premises. Members of the public and media personnel are urged to comply with the new rules to avoid penalties.

This new ban comes amid growing concerns about unauthorized recordings and the spread of court proceedings on social media. Authorities stress that adherence to the circular is mandatory for everyone entering the court.
