Islamabad Police Announces Traffic Plan Ahead of New Year Celebrations

Islamabad Police Announces Traffic Plan Ahead of New Year Celebrations

ISLAMABAD โ€“ The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a special traffic plan to manage vehicle movement during New Year celebrations in the capital. The measures aim to ensure smooth traffic flow across key routes.

According to the ITP, from December 27 to 30, heavy vehicles coming from other cities will be restricted from entering Islamabad between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM. On December 31, trucks and other large vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 3:00 PM until midnight.

An ITP spokesperson stated that this traffic plan has been designed to reduce congestion during major events and celebrations in the city. Authorities emphasized that the measures are temporary but essential for public safety and convenience.

Islamabad has been experiencing traffic jams recently due to ongoing developmental projects and roadworks. The city police have noted that without a proper traffic plan, the combination of construction and festive crowds could severely impact vehicle movement.

Earlier, the ITP announced a temporary traffic diversion on the Expressway and Murree Road/Club Road. The diversions were scheduled from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday in connection with a special program. Temporary traffic management teams were deployed to guide motorists and ensure smooth flow.

Officials advised drivers to follow the directions of traffic personnel and use alternative routes when necessary. Commuters were also urged to plan their travel in advance to avoid delays during the festive days.

The ITP emphasized that this traffic plan is part of a broader effort to ensure safety and convenience during major events. Police teams have been instructed to monitor all critical points in the city and provide immediate assistance if required.

Authorities also encouraged citizens to cooperate with the traffic management measures. They noted that adherence to the traffic plan would help prevent congestion, reduce travel time, and enhance overall safety during the New Year celebrations.
