ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad Traffic Police has announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions for October 24 and 25, 2026, advising motorists to use alternative routes while travelling through the federal capital.
The restrictions are expected to affect several major roads, including routes connecting Rawal Dam Chowk, Kashmir Chowk and Serena Hotel. Commuters have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
According to the traffic advisory provided, the road between Rawal Dam Chowk and Kashmir Chowk will remain closed, along with the route connecting Serena Hotel and Kashmir Chowk. Motorists travelling through these areas should avoid the affected sections and follow the directions issued by traffic personnel.
Authorities have advised drivers to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys because of the expected diversions. Commuters should also check the latest traffic situation before leaving home, particularly if they need to reach work, appointments or other important destinations on time.
People travelling from Rawalpindi towards Islamabad can use alternative routes, including Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipee Road and Srinagar Highway. These roads have been suggested to help motorists bypass the affected sections and continue towards their destinations.
Special arrangements have also been outlined for motorists travelling towards Bhara Kahu and Murree. Suggested alternatives include Faizabad, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, Jinnah Square and Koriyanwala Chowk. Drivers should choose the route that best suits their destination and follow instructions from traffic officers at diversion points.
Commuters travelling from Park Road and Lehtrar Road have also been advised to consider alternative roads. Depending on their destination, they can use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Tulip Hotel Road to avoid restricted sections.
Islamabad Traffic Police is expected to deploy personnel at key locations to guide motorists, manage traffic movement and help reduce congestion during the two-day restrictions. Drivers have been urged to cooperate with officers and avoid attempting to enter closed roads.
Residents can check traffic updates through Islamabad Traffic Police FM 92.4 and the official social media accounts of Islamabad Police. Monitoring these channels before travelling may help commuters identify changes to the announced diversions.
