More than 22,000 security personnel are set to be deployed across Islamabad amid planned demonstrations and marches.
The security preparations come ahead of calls by PTI, Jamaat-i-Islami and Kissan Ittehad.
Officials are preparing additional security arrangements across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock.
The Islamabad deployment will operate under eight DIGs, 10 SSPs, 40 SPs and 58 DSPs.
Security Increased Around Islamabad
Authorities have also called around 30,000 security personnel for deployment in Attock.
Attock is an important route connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab. Additional forces have started arriving in the district and reporting to local police authorities.
Personnel are being called from Sheikhupura, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Faisalabad.
The Punjab Constabulary and Riot Management Police are also among the forces being deployed there.
Rawalpindi police have separately requested around 9,000 additional personnel to strengthen local security arrangements.
Police leave in Rawalpindi has also been suspended until October 1, except for extreme emergencies.
Entry Points Prepared Ahead of Protests
Authorities are preparing measures to control access to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
According to the reported security plan, around 30 entry points could be blocked. These include 11 entry points located in Rawalpindi.
Containers have been placed along highways and open areas in the twin cities. Similar preparations are also underway around important entry routes in Attock.
The measures come ahead of several announced Protests and marches towards Islamabad. Jamaat-i-Islami has announced a march against levies on petroleum products.
PTI has announced a September 27 march demanding the release of party founder Imran Khan.
Kissan Ittehad has separately announced a march seeking relief for farmers.
Accommodation Arranged for Additional Police
Islamabad authorities have also arranged accommodation for officers arriving from other districts.
Around 362 police officers and officials will be accommodated in 132 rooms across 13 hotels and guest houses.
Other police and Frontier Constabulary personnel will stay at government buildings and educational institutions.
Accommodation arrangements also include the Sports Complex, marriage halls and police stations.
Islamabad High Court Ruling on Public Roads
The preparations also follow an Islamabad High Court ruling concerning PTI’s planned September 27 march.
The court said peaceful assembly remains a constitutional right, subject to the Constitution and law.
However, it ruled that roads and other public places cannot be occupied in ways that obstruct citizens’ fundamental rights.
The ruling also restricted the use of government resources to facilitate political marches towards Islamabad.
PTI has continued preparations for its planned September 27 march.
