On Monday, Islamabad Police arrested Raoof Hasan, the Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from the party’s Central Secretariat. Hasan was detained for allegedly leading a digital media cell involved in disseminating propaganda against Pakistan’s integrity.
Following reports about the arrest of both Hasan and PTI Chairman Gohar Khan, police clarified that only Hasan was apprehended based on evidence. They described the PTI digital media center as a hub for international disinformation promoting anti-Pakistan narratives.

Gohar Khan accompanied Hasan to the Police Lines but was informed that he was not a suspect in any case and was allowed to return home. Hasan was held in the Police Lines while evidence from PTI’s digital media operations was seized.

Following news of both Hasan’s and PTI Chairman Gohar Khan’s arrests, police clarified that only Hasan was taken into custody, based on evidence of disinformation activities from the PTI digital media center. Gohar Khan accompanied Hasan to the Police Lines but was allowed to return home as he was not a suspect.
The police also seized computers and other items from the PTI secretariat. PTI claimed that police had detained staff and taken documents, though police sources denied reports of confiscated laptops and documents or the arrest of four women.
PTI leader Khurrum Sher Zaman condemned the raid, accusing the government of authoritarian tactics. Adviser Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif criticized the government’s actions as desperate and vowed to continue the fight for democracy and rule of law. In response, PTI supporters staged a protest in Lahore, demanding the release of their leaders and workers.
