The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) declared on Friday that using VPN services is “un-Islamic.”
CII Chairman Allama Dr. Raghab Hussain Naeemi emphasized that accessing unethical or illegal activities through any means is prohibited and that the government should take steps to stop such activities.

He also called for a ban on apps that spread defamatory content against the country.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior sent a letter to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), urging the immediate blocking of illegal VPN services.
The letter highlights concerns about the misuse of unregistered VPNs for illicit purposes, including terrorism, money laundering, and the spread of harmful content. It also mentioned how these VPNs are being used for propaganda purposes.
