KARACHI: JI Announces Karachi Protest against the rising number of deadly road accidents involving dumpers and water tankers. The protest is scheduled to take place today, according to Jamaat-e-Islami leaders.
JI Karachi chief Munam Zafar Khan spoke to the media ahead of the demonstration. He said heavy vehicles have become a serious danger for city residents. He added that daily travel in Karachi now feels unsafe for many families.
Munam Zafar Khan said reckless driving by dumpers and tankers continues unchecked. He blamed poor enforcement and weak oversight by authorities. According to him, the number of deaths linked to these vehicles is increasing every month.
He said families are repeatedly losing loved ones due to preventable accidents. He described the situation as alarming and unacceptable. He stressed that public safety must be the top priority.
During his remarks, JI Announces Karachi Protest to demand strict action against unsafe transport operations. He also criticised the current e-challan system. He said ordinary citizens are being fined unfairly.
Munam Zafar Khan claimed the e-challan system is being misused. He said it targets small vehicle owners instead of dangerous heavy transport. He called it “loot and plunder” under the name of enforcement.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader announced a sit-in at Numaish Chowrangi. The protest will begin at 5:00 pm today. Party workers and supporters are expected to participate.
He said the protest will focus on two main demands. One demand is to stop deadly dumper and tanker operations. The second is to reform the e-challan system.
Munam Zafar Khan also highlighted Karachi’s worsening infrastructure. He said nearly half the city faces severe water shortages. This situation has increased dependence on water tankers.
He warned that the water crisis has strengthened tanker mafias. According to him, unsafe tanker operations have added to public suffering. He urged authorities to improve pipeline-based water supply.
He demanded an immediate end to what he called “blood-soaked tankers.” He said citizens should not risk their lives due to poor planning. Clean and safe water access should be ensured for all areas.
JI Announces Karachi Protest as a show of solidarity with affected families. Munam Zafar Khan said Jamaat-e-Islami will continue its struggle. He vowed to protect the lives and property of Karachi residents.
