Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has made headlines for commending the professional conduct of Punjab Police after his car was pulled over and fined for a traffic violation in Lahore’s Johar Town.
In a story posted on his verified Instagram account, Junaid wrote, “To the boys from Punjab Police who pulled my car over yesterday, thoroughly impressed by the professionalism displayed. May Allah’s protection be with you, on and off duty.”
According to traffic officials, the challan was issued for tinted windows, which violate provincial traffic regulations. The stop occurred during a routine inspection, and police emphasized that “no one is above the law.”
The episode sparked considerable public interest not just because of Junaid’s calm acceptance, but also because Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised the Dolphin Police team for issuing the challan, including to her son’s security vehicle.
“You have upheld the rule of law,” said CM Maryam Nawaz. “I appreciate the Dolphin Police team for ensuring legal compliance.” She further noted that her government’s focus remains on transparent, unbiased enforcement of laws across Punjab.
The development has been lauded by many as a symbolic moment for equal accountability under the law, especially in a country where VIP culture is often criticized. Junaid’s public praise of the police sets a noteworthy example and reinforces the administration’s broader message that legal standards must apply to everyone equally.
