LAHORE โ Preparations are in full swing for the wedding of Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The celebrations are scheduled for mid-January next year.
According to family sources, the wedding ceremonies will take place on January 16, 17, and 18. Events are planned across Lahore and Jati Umrah, the Sharif family residence. Both the mehndi and walima will be held at Jati Umrah, ensuring a close-knit family setting.
Bride and Family
Junaid Safdarโs future wife, Shanzay, is the granddaughter of PML-N leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar. The marriage was formally fixed two months ago, according to Rohail Asghar.
Sharing his reaction, Sheikh Rohail Asghar described the engagement as a joyful moment for the family. He added that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif personally invited their family for dinner to celebrate the occasion. The politician praised the hospitality of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Rohail Asghar also mentioned that his wife, daughter-in-law, and Maryam Nawaz sat together to discuss and arrange wedding preparations in detail, reflecting the close cooperation between the families.
Close Family Ties Behind the Match
The bond between the two families has strengthened over time. Maryam Nawazโs daughter Mahnoor and Shanzay are close friends, which further deepened the connection. Maryam Nawaz had previously visited Rohail Asghar along with her elder daughter and son-in-law, Raheel Munir, highlighting the familiesโ closeness.
Keeping the celebrations intimate, the families confirmed that only close relatives will be invited. The wedding is planned as a private gathering rather than a large public event, focusing on family and tradition.
