Karachi Citizen Raises Concern After Receiving Two Incorrect E-Challans

A Karachi resident has filed a complaint after receiving two fines under the e-challan system, despite claiming that the vehicle shown in the images does not belong to him. The issue has raised questions about number plate misuse and the challenges citizens face when vehicles with fake plates operate in the city.

According to details, the citizen received two fines of Rs10,000 each within just 13 days. He stated that while the number plate in the e-challan belongs to him, the vehicle shown in both violations is not his. He explained that his own car is a 2015 model, whereas the vehicle captured in the e-challan system is a 2012 model.

The citizen said he first learned about the problem on October 30 when he received the initial fine of Rs10,000. The second e-challan arrived on November 12 and carried the same number plate but displayed the same unfamiliar vehicle.

Police took immediate notice of the application and ordered action. Officers used advanced camera technology to feed the suspicious vehicle into the database for tracking. This step was taken to identify those responsible for misusing the number plate.

The images generated through the e-challan system show two individuals driving the vehicle at different times. Both violations took place at the Karachi Toll Plaza on the M-9 Motorway. The fines were issued for seatbelt violations. One image shows two people inside the car, while the second shows only the driver.

Police officials stated that a significant number of vehicles in Karachi are using fake number plates. They admitted that such cases cause trouble for innocent citizens. However, they added that modern monitoring tools are helping law enforcement trace vehicles involved in suspicious activity.

Authorities have assured the complainant that the matter is being investigated and that steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
